There's a contest going on 2012 Pets on Quilts. Post pictures on your blog and link it at the contest. Well, as you can guess it wasn't hard for me to find pics of the boys on - under - near - my quilts. But - from the beginning there's always been a special bond between my sewing machine and the cats.
When Chief was young it was tough to quilt without him being close - very close.
Even as he got a little older, the sewing machine was still his favorite hobby spot. I would always have to be sure there was a toy or food to distract him while I actually sewed.
Time passed and I got back to quilting. New machine, different cat - same problem. Chief hangs out near the sewing but doesn't need to be right on top anymore. Guess I'll always have company when I quilt!
UPDATE: 2 things. I added the link to the Pets on Quilts contest because I missed doing that yesterday and I wanted to be sure everyone knew where the contest was.
2nd - Over the past less than 24 hours I have discovered quilters are a very chatty group!! This post has received many more comments than usual and its been fun to see everyone's comments and head over to their blogs if they have any.

What a pretty cat! Looks curious too.
LOL- reminds me of my first cat- Doc- he had to be right there as I tried to sew! (The quilts look beautiful too, BTW)
What a pretty cat.....he definitely loves that sewing machine.....my cat Tinker loves Christmastime when she can lay under the tree and look up at the lights.
cute cat
Love your machine cats!!!
Your cats do seem to like to quilt with you. I know that Mars used to want to check out the sewing machine needle- it was kind of scary- as she has got older she doesn't do it so much.
You have some beautiful cats.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
What a cute photo - my furries stay away from the machine once it is running - mamma puts the pedal to the metal and they might get sewn in!
ha ha...there seems to be a abundance of lovely kitties that like sewing machines. Your babies are adorable.
Cute kitties--they definitely seem to what to be there to help you!
Cats are great company when quilting!
You have some sweet, pretty kitties to keep you company in your sewing room! Thanks for joining the party - lovely to have you!
Haha! Mine like to sit near me whilst I quilt ( & of course are totally involved in the basting process (!) but as yet haven't attempted to sit in the harp & quilt With Me! Wonderful pics :-)
Your kitty wants to be right there with you - reminds me of how some of the great granddaughters follow my mother around. If she stops walking, they bump into her, and must sit in her lap or on her.
Very sweet kitties who seem to be devoted to the quilter in the family.
Purr purr from Rusken (my cat) to your cat :) All cats needs a lot of quilts :)
What beautiful cats, isn't it nice to have so much help with your sewing?
Chief and Bert are beautiful! Glad you have so much help :-)
The kitties certainly like to be right where the action is. I used to cut my borders on the floor and had a Maine Coon cat that insisted on being right there. I came so close to cutting her tail in half one day as she swished it right in the path of my moving rotary cutter! Scary!
Loved your post, what great pics of beautiful cats.
Looks like you have wonderful company in your studio!! Thanks for sharing!!
Parker LOVES to help the sewing machine sew. He's incorrigable.
What beautiful cats they both are. Isn't it funny how they all seem to want to help with the sewing machine?
cute cat pictures. thanks for sharing.
Quilters chatty? Never! Lol. I love your kitties have to be so close. :)
Computers come with a mouse. Apparently more sewing machines should come with cats. Everyone says they are very helpful!
It's fun to have kitty close by to help with your stitching, but I can see how your second kitty makes it a little easier to get things done.
Love your helpful cats. Why do cats like to help with the sewing machine?
Cute cats and quilts!
So cute and so familiar.
Very cute pics. Thanks for joining in the fun!
I love those pics of him right in the throat of the machine - so cute!
